Flora

Kamchatka's flora is relatively impoverished compared to similar climatic zones in the Far East.

The region’s dendroflora, including its islands, consists of over 100 species of trees, shrubs, semi-shrubs, subshrubs, lianas, and other woody plants, accounting for approximately 7% of the region’s vascular plant flora.

It forms sparse forests throughout the region and extends northward to the southern part of the Koryak Plateau. Under optimal conditions, the stone birch can grow into a fairly large tree, reaching up to 15−20 meters in height and 90 cm in diameter.

It is found over an area of about 22 hectares only in the estuary of the Semyachik River on the eastern coast of Kamchatka.
